  • More on Out of Bounds (OOB) Planets

    Yesterday I brought up the idea of out of bounds planets on the subreddit during the “Guess the Asshole” game. The following is posted to the subreddit, but I figured I would also post it here on the blog for those of you that don’t do the reddit thing (and there is probably some overlap from my previous OOB posts from about a year and a half ago).

    The definition for Out of Bounds (OOB) planets is “A planet that exceeds a declination of 23-degrees 26 minutes 28 seconds either North or South of the celestial equator.”

    Also, just for definitions sake, Declinations are the movements of the planets North and South of the celestial equator. They can create major aspects called **parallels** and **contra-parallels.** Parallels operate like conjunctions and contra-parallels operate like oppositions.  This is another discussion for another post entirely, lol, but I did figure it should be mentioned.)

    Once a planet is out of bounds it is kind of free do to as it pleases. It’s no longer under the dominion of the Sun meaning that it can behave however it sees fit to behave. The planets that have the ability to go OOB are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter (which does so rarely), Uranus, and Pluto. The Sun, Saturn and Neptune don’t go OOB, and this is because they have the a very similar declination to the Sun. The Moon is the planet that goes OOB the most often, and the years that the North Node is closest to 0-degrees Aries are the years that you will see the Moon go OOB A LOT. In these years you will also see an upswing in OOB action across all the planets that can go OOB. 

    So….what happens when a planet goes OOB? That planet usually has a way of testing the limits. What limits exactly? It usually has to do with limits that we collectively place on one another in society (what’s “acceptable” and what’s “not acceptable” kind of shit). These are planets that push boundaries and want to push through any “barrier” that seems to exist. These planets don’t give a fuck about shit like that, giving rules and the status quo a giant middle finger. This can be a really great thing; we do need planets like this and the people that have them to move society forward…..they are usually the change makers in some capacity either in their own sphere of influence (in a micro way) or in collective ways on a larger scale (in a macro way). What happens TO a planet when it goes OOB? Below you will find a list of both the positive and negative sides to the planets being OOB. People that have OOB planets may find that they don’t exhibit ONLY the positive or the negative sides to the planet, but they may instead find they encompass a little of both.

    **Moon OOB:**This usually adds an amplification of intuition to the way the Moon functions and the native usually knows this (and would be smart to use this intuition). The emotions are pretty strong and intense regardless of sign and regardless if the native shows them openly or not. It causes the native to dance to beat of their own drum (to the music running through their head that other people aren’t hearing). These people generally need a lot of emotional freedom and have a high degree of emotional intelligence. It helps the native to have a natural understanding of other people and they are usually like a spark of inspiration (both to themselves and to other people). On the negative side of things, you could find the Moon OOB causes the native to have extreme mood swings, a complete disregard for rules and social conventions (to the point of being to their detriment), and a complete lack of sympathy/empathy (though I don’t see it manifest this particular way often, it is possible). These people might also have habits that are self-destructive in nature (and this is the particular negative trait that I have noticed people that exemplify the positive traits of an OOB Moon overall might still have to battle with).

    **Mercury OOB:** This can cause the native to be willing to communicate the things that other people wouldn’t dare communicate (to say the unspeakable). They are usually pretty intelligent and their mind operates in a different way than the rest of us. There is usually a talent for connecting people via communication and even media, and they usually make pretty great teachers and speakers. Perception is very important for these natives, and how they perceive the information that they are taking into their mind; if they function from the positive side of an OOB Mercury their perception is usually on point. On the negative end of the spectrum, the perception that these people have can be wildly off (they might misunderstand what is going on around them entirely). It can also cause obsessive and/or compulsive thoughts, and can cause the way that they think differently to be SO different that they end up not feeling socially connected to anyone and/or to disconnect entirely. 

    **Venus OOB:** This planet being OOB can make the native highly desirable in their own sphere of influence on a micro level and publicly on a macro level. They generally have really great taste and know “beauty” (even if it’s different than what the collective at large finds “beautiful”). Because of this these natives are generally ahead of trends and challenge (and change) the collective’s notion of what “beauty” is. They usually have a knack for making other people feel very at ease in their presence, and for being able to give other people what they need in any given situation. Venus OOB usually adds oodles of magnetism and charisma; these people have “IT” (or “zsa-zsa-zou”) and they are usually pretty entertaining with a fair amount of artistic ability. Values are another thing that stand out here; these people might value things in a different way than most, or their values in general might be different. On the negative side, Venus OOB can cause someone to be too hedonistic, materialistic, and envious of what other people have (not focusing on what THEY have). There can be something “unusual” about their notion of relationships and they somehow need to break boundaries on what is accepted in relationships and what isn’t (this one can be a positive or negative, it really depends on WHAT that is and how they use it). 

    **Mars OOB:** This can cause the native to be super fucking driven; these are the people that really have an ability to get shit done. Their stamina is usually unparalleled and they have a tremendous amount of leadership ability. They usually feel an urge to act on their instincts and impulses (and THIS can be positive or negative, depending on what those instincts and impulses  are telling them to do). They might seem more “masculine” in nature and they usually have a good amount of confidence that they want to act on and exhibit. On the negative end of things, this can cause the person to come off as incredibly selfish, forceful, and/or dominating. Their temper can be an issue; Mars OOB can cause the person to get really fucking pissed off really fucking quick (sometimes this seems nonsensical in nature) with possibly violent results. 

    **Jupiter OOB:** When Jupiter is OOB it usually adds an amplification of luck for the native in their life. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they are the ones that win the lottery or anything like that, but these people might seem luckier in general (they might even FEEL luckier than a lot of people). Their beliefs are usually very strong, and it might even cause them to have a belief in the impossible (not easily giving up on this). There might be a deep need to travel and see the world in a way that goes WAY beyond Jupiters need to travel (like they need travel like the air they breathe). These people have a need to expand themselves beyond any limits that currently exist and this is usually done in a BIG way. Expansion is one of those things that can really be a positive or a negative thing – it really depends HOW they are expanding and in what area they are trying to expand. Dogmatism is another negative trait of Jupiter OOB (but this is to an extreme level). 

    **Uranus OOB:**These people, like the Moon OOB, need a whole bunch of freedom. They don’t allow anyone or anything to fence them in. These are the people who are more than willing to try things that have never been tried before for the sake of innovation and experimentation. The rebels, the revolutionaries, the humanitarians, and the weirdos (and this may be seen publicly on a larger scale or within family and friend groups on a smaller scale – these people naturally stand out). There is usually a deep feeling of being different from other people that goes beyond the usual notion of Uranian difference, which they can either use to their advantage or their detriment. These people can completely detach themselves from everything if they want (which can be both a good thing or a bad thing depending on the circumstance). Their behavior can be downright shocking or radical just for the pure sake of these which can put others that are more conventional “off” and cause them not to be taken as seriously in their quest for liberation (both personally and collectively). 

    **Pluto OOB:** This planet being OOB can cause the native to have a shit load of intensity and/or magnetism (and this kind of intensity goes beyond Pluto’s normal intensity and magnetism levels). They are are passionate, usually pretty sexual (maybe even hyper-sexual), and usually have very strong convictions about things. Secrets usually mean a lot to these people, and they are more inclined than most to hang on to their secrets (and those of other people). These people usually go through several distinct periods in their lifetimes and these periods show their many marked soul transformations (and they could even go through a few different transformations during one period). This planet OOB can also cause a host of darker things to come out in the personality; these people might have a shit load of rage and can probably be incredibly violent and vengeful (though this might not be out in the open but more something these natives keep secret). I feel like there is a need for people with Pluto OOB to embrace the darkness and heaviness of Pluto…..not necessarily in the sense of acting on any “dark” desires but admitting they exist and handling them in a way that doesn’t hurt themselves or anyone else (should this exist in the native). 

    And just to be clear, even some of the positive traits mentioned above could be utilized in a negative capacity in some way. Same thing goes for the more negative traits, which if applied positively could be a positive thing. My point is not everything is black and white.

    How can YOU find out if you have any planets out of bounds? Go to http://www.astro.com and create your chart (first go to “free horoscopes” at the top of the page and then go to extended chart selection and enter in your information). Once you pull the actual chart you will see a button above the chart that says “PDF additional tables.” Click on that and something called “Natal Chart (Data Sheet)” will appear. Under the chart that says “Planet Positions” you will see a column for “Declination.” Check the declinations for the planets and if you have a planet that is at a declination of 23-degrees 26 minutes 28 seconds or beyond you have an out of bounds planet.     What the Hell is a Midpoint in Astrology (and how to use them)

    Midpoints! A very important astrological concept and one that is not talked about as frequently as they should be. So I am here to talk about them now, hahaha. A midpoint is essentially the equal distance between two planets (or celestial bodies). You can take the midpoint from planets that are aspecting one another in a chart, or planets that don’t aspect one another. Midpoints can be used either way.

    How to actually calculate the midpoints for any planet/celestial body aspect? You can either use a computer generated program, or you can do them by hand. You will need to turn the degrees to the 360 degree zodiac first. The 360 degree zodiac is as follows:
    Aries: 0 to 30 degrees
    Taurus: 30 to 60 degrees.
    Gemini: 60 to 90 degrees.
    Cancer: 90 to 120 degrees
    Leo: 120 to 150 degrees
    Virgo: 150 to 180 degrees
    Libra: 180 to 210 degrees
    Scorpio: 210 to 240 degrees
    Sagittarius: 240 to 270 degrees
    Capricorn: 270 to 300 degrees
    Aquarius: 300 to 330 degrees
    Pisces: 330 to 360 degrees

    So, this is my chart above. I have the Sun and Moon Circled in Yellow. The software I’m using (Astro Gold) is able to pull midpoints, but a lot of them don’t seem to be able to do this. If I wanted to find this midpoint by hand, I would have done this:
    ——–Turn 1 Sagittarius 45 to 241 Sagittarius 45
    ——–Turn 16 Capricorn 03 to 286 Capricorn 03
    Then you add them together (adding the degrees and the minutes separately):
    ——-Degrees: 241 + 286 = 527
    ——-Minutes: 45 + 03 = 48
    Then you divide the degrees & minutes by two:
    ——527/2 = 263.5 which translates to 23 degrees Sagittarius
    ——48/2 = 24 minutes
    Then you add in the .5 + .24 (which is the minutes) and you get .78. Translate this to degrees and it looks like 1.18. Then you add:
    ——23 degrees Sagittarius + 1.18 and you get 24 Sagittarius 18 minutes.
    **Really, you don’t even have to mess with the “minutes” part of all of this and can focus solely on the degrees. If you didn’t mess with the degrees here, you would get 23 Sagittarius 30 as the Sun/Moon Midpoint. It just depends how precise you want to be.**
    ***Sometimes the midpoints don’t come out completely clean like that after dividing by 2. For example, if you have your Sun at 12 degrees 00 Aries and your Moon at 24 Pisces 00, this would change them to 12 Aries 00 and 354 Pisces 00. Added together you get 366, and when diving by 2 you get 183. Now, 183 translates to 3 degrees Libra which is clearly NOT the midpoint between a Sun in Aries and Moon in Pisces. However, look to its opposition on the other end of the Axis, which is 3 degrees Aries….which absolutely IS the midpoint.

    You can literally calculate the midpoint for any planets, whether or not they make an aspect. When calculating them between planets that form no aspect, the midpoint just shows where these two planetary energies meet one another halfway. For example, say your Venus and Jupiter formed no aspect, but you wanted to know where the midpoint was anyway. Finding that midpoint could show a place in our chart where we have the ability to expand (Jupiter) upon our love (Venus)..or any other Venus and Jupiter expressions. Any planets that happen to aspect the midpoint (especially the conjunction) would flavor the midpoint further. For example, say the Venus/Jupiter Midpoint was within 1° of the Moon. This might create a scenario where your emotional core (your Moon) is a vehicle to be able to expand upon the love that the Midpoint between Venus and Jupiter offers.

    I think that Midpoints are most useful when looking at the midpoints not just between random planets, but planets that actually aspect one another. They show the place where the energy between the two planets is “met halfway,” either via frustration (as with the challenging aspects) or harmony (as with the easier aspects). Challenging aspects spur growth, so the midpoint of a challenging aspect (like the square) can show how and where to release the tension from the aspect. On the flip side, harmonious aspects can show where we can become lazy (like with the trine), and the midpoint of the trine might show us how to best battle that should it be an issue for the native.
    —Personally, I think they’re most important when looking at the challenging aspects, the square, the opposition and the quincunx. This midpoint can help to show where and how (by house and sign) to release the tension from the square aspect, making them easier to deal with over all. For the opposition, the midpoint can show how and where we stop going back and forth between the two planets by sign and house. For the quincunx aspect, the midpoint can be the place where the planets actually are able to “see” one another. This is important for the quincunx aspect because the planets in this aspect don’t understand or see one another easily. The Midpoint gives them a way to “see.”

    Some of the most important midpoints in the chart to look at generally are the the Sun/Moon Midpoint and the Ascendant/Midheaven Midpoint. The Sun/Moon Midpoint shows where the masculine & the feminine/the life force & the emotional core come together in our chart and “marry” one another. The Ascendant/Midheaven Midpoint shows where our natural sense of self & the highest and most idealized form of ourselves come together and “marry” one another, and how we are able to reconcile that struggle (and it *usually* is a struggle). As far as the your own individual chart goes, you will want to look at the two midpoints mentioned above, but also pay close attention to the square, opposition and quincunx aspects and their midpoints.

    When trying to figure out what a Midpoint means, think about the energy of the planets in question. For example, with the midpoint between Moon and Pluto, you would be looking at the merging of the emotions (Moon) and intensity (Pluto)…along with other Moon & Pluto expressions. For Mars and Uranus, you would be looking at the merging of one’s drive (Mars) & liberation (Uranus)…along with other Mars & Uranus expressions.

  • WTF is a Yod in an Astrology Chart (and how to read them)

    Yod, Yod, Yod…..what the fuck is a Yod in astrology? I see this question (though maybe not asked this exact same way, hahaha) posted quite frequently on different forums and even by my own clients. People are always wondering (and with good reason!) what the fuck the Yod in their chart means for them. They’ve been popping up in my own client’s charts more recently, and I figured this was the time to actually do a post on them.
    **Side note –click this if you would like for me to do any kind of chart reading for you 🙂
    **If you are more of a watcher than a reader….video incoming below:

    The Yod (also known as The Finger of God) is an aspect, like the one mentioned in the chart above, where you have two planets sextile (60°) one another with the two sextile planets quincunx/inconjunct (150°) from the same planet (or the apex of the Yod). The sextile planets are in harmony, operating on the same wavelength, while both of those planets are putting stress on the apex of the Yod through the quincunx aspects. While the sextile is harmonious, usually until the Yod is worked through the sextile may operate at the lower end vibrationally (i.e.: exhibiting the least desirable traits of the sextile in question) due to the quincunx stress.

    To understand what a Yod is, I suppose you need to first understand what a quincunx aspect is. The 150° aspect means that you’re (more than likely) dealing with two different sign energies that don’t understand one another. One sign is usually better expressed and understood, while the other one is completely left out. In the case of the Yod, it’s usually the apex planet that is left out (since there will be a harmony felt between the two sextile planets while neglecting the Yod). There is a lack of being able to incorporate the apex planetary energies between not only one other planet + the apex planet, but from two! This will definitely be felt by the apex planet through the sign and house in which it falls, begging to be worked through (and begging not to feel so “separate” from these other planets in the chart). It’s less constant tension like in the case of the square aspect, and more of a constant nagging or longing. It also may feel that you don’t fully have control over anything going on here (thus the Finger of God name comes into play). So, the apex of the Yod needs to feel together with these other two planets, and with the rest of the chart. Depending on what the apex planet is, and where it falls, and all that good stuff will help to shine a light on WHAT that actually is. If Mars is the apex of the Yod, you’re looking at energy dealing with your drive and impulse. If Venus is the apex, you’re looking at energy dealing with love (how you love and need to be loved, along with your values). And that apex planet really is a gift of sorts….energy that your soul really wanted to master this time around and use to your benefit.

    How exactly you work through Yod’s has a lot to do with understanding the apex planet. Really get to know it and how it functions. Understand how you might be leaving it out/how to incorporate it better in your life. Different transits also play a role in understanding the Yod better. Transits to the different parts of the Yod (specifically the apex) are important, especially transits that are in conjunction and opposition to the planets that make up the Yod. A major sort of transit by conjunction that will light up the Yod are outer planet transits to the mid-point between the two sextile planets in this aspect. This midpoint is opposite the apex planet. While the outer planet conjunctions to this midpoint aren’t really that comfortable for the person to go through, they usually do allow for tremendous growth through the challenge. If one should go through this, it may really feel like life has hit a sort of “crisis” point….and this crisis point is wanting that apex planet to be integrated and used properly.

    Since these aspects aren’t super, super common, I have always felt that they have karmic implications to them (especially due to the lack of control or even fated quality about them). How exactly that would come about would depend on what that planet is, the motion of the planet, and everything else going on in the chart.

    **I’d also like to make mention that really, when considering what in the chart creates a Yod, the focus probably should be on planets. I say “probably should be” because there are cases where I will consider something to be a Yod when it traditionally wouldn’t be considered one. For instance, let’s say there is something that looks like a Yod happening with the Midheaven in Aries, Mars in Aquarius and Mercury in Virgo. Traditionally this wouldn’t be considered a Yod but I would count it since Mars is the planetary ruler of the Midheaven in Aries. Another mention should be made that with the traditional definition of a Yod the apex planet is always the fastest moving planet. While I do think the Yod probably has more punch when the Apex planet is the fastest moving planet, I still think it should be looked at as something that may function in a Yod-like way.

  • Lilith (Part II) or: “Mama, they call her a bad girl, all because she wanted to be free.”

    Lilith is a common thing to come up in readings (people often have questions about her). Not only that though, but I’m constantly seeing questions about Lilith on the different forums that I creep on & answer questions. “How does she affect my life?” “What does it mean to have Lilith in Libra in the 6th House?” “What does it mean that she’s in conjunction with my Midheaven?” “Does having Lilith in the 8th make me a fucked up bitch?” These are just a few examples of questions that I’ve either received myself or just seen posted different places. I think before you can really understand HOW Lilith affects your life by placement in the natal chart, it is important to not only understand who Lilith was, but also to make sure that you know which Lilith you’re talking about. There are actually four Lilith’s that can be pulled in a chart:

    -Asteroid Lilith – No. 1181
    -Black Moon Lilith (mean) – this is what comes up when you choose the Lilith option on astro.com
    -Black Moon Lilith (true) – h13
    -Dark Moon Lilith/Waldemath’s Moon – h58

    So, if you use Astro.com at all to create charts, Black Moon Lilith (mean) is probably the version of Lilith that you are most familiar with (since it’s the one that comes up when you look for Lilith under “additional objects”). Also, this is the version of Lilith that is commonly used when looking at charts and talking about Lilith. Both Black Moon Lilith’s (mean and true) aren’t actual objects in the sky, but they are the apogee of the Moon’s orbit…meaning this is the place in the Moon’s orbit that is furthest from the Earth. The difference between the mean and true Black Moon Lilith (BML) is mean BLM is taken from an average and the true BML is the actual calculation of the apogee of the Moon’s orbit. This sort of empty-void-hypothetical-point is a place where one can do “good” or do “bad.” They can take Lilith’s intuitive and psychic energy and use to it to connect to “the other side” (and connect that other side to themselves) in a positive way, or in a negative way.

    As far as the story of Lilith goes, supposedly she was created from the earth to be the wife of Adam (at the same time as Adam), before Eve. Adam wanted Lilith to be submissive to him, specifically sexually, and wanted to fuck her with him on top, and only him on top. Lilith wasn’t having any of this bullshit; she wanted the relationship to be more equal in nature and wanted to fuck in various different positions. Adam didn’t like this (and I guess God didn’t like it much, either) because it is said that she either grew some wings and flew away from that paradise prison, or that she was cast out by God for being a disobedient bad girl towards Adam. Her job was to be Adam’s bitch, and she didn’t want to play ball. It is at this point, once she is either cast out of the Garden of Eden or chooses to leave on her own, that she turns to the darker side of things (such as hooking up with and fucking some demons and having demon babies which are then killed, turning into a snake, and actually killing children). Or so the mythology says depending on what version you read. Who really knows? I DO think she gets a bad rep though (she probably doesn’t usually mind this). While I believe her energy absolutely can manifest in more challenging ways in one’s natal chart (such as obsession and the “darker” sides of sex), I also believe that she can represent wild and uninhibited freedom and/or sexuality from oppression. This isn’t a bad thing for a person to embrace, it just depends on how it is embraced. She represents the sort of “nasty woman” energy (or whatever you want to call it) that more patriarchal societies don’t want to see in their countrywomen….and if they actually had their way, would probably try and do away with completely. But that’s another rant for another time.

    *As far as how Black Moon Lilith might express herself, you will find below some ideas about how Black Moon Lilith might express herself in Libra through Pisces (some ideas for Aries through Virgo are in this post). This is will only show the HOW of how she expresses herself through the sign in question. You will also need to look at the house your BML falls in to know WHERE/WHAT AREA OF LIFE she expresses herself through, as well as taking into account any aspects that she makes in your chart.*

    Black Moon Lilith in Libra: BML is all about expressing herself wildly & independently, but in the sign of Libra, there could be some difficulty in merging these qualities with Libra’s need for balance, harmony, and partnerships. These people are very adapt at getting what they want through diplomatic means, but it usually isn’t just for the sake of diplomacy on it’s own and more self-serving (though she is good at hiding this). They can also out-charm just about anyone. In personal relationships, which are important to her here in Libra, sex can be all consuming in both thought and action, which can then make these partnerships feel a little lopsided. Being physically attractive (whatever that is to the person), feeling physically attractive, and presenting yourself a certain way are important to her here….but Lilith has more depth to her than this superficial shit and will eventually rebel against Libra if she isn’t allowed to express herself. Swinging the scales so far into the superficial realms to try and keep Lilith under control will only backfire here. She needs to be able to really express herself, and through partnerships this is extremely important. Acknowledge your darker side and desires, learn to make piece with them (and not just tolerate them), so it doesn’t come busting out, causing a bunch of disharmony and strife. The way that this manifests in her life will depend on the house that Lilith falls in along with aspects that she makes.

    Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio: BML here in Scorpio needs to be able to express her sexuality (which may or may not be of the different and/or “darker” sort of variety, but it is definitely “heavy”), along with being able to transcend, evolve, and have deep emotional experiences. Sex is important to her here, but she will fully embrace this side of herself recognizing that it is just a natural part of who she is. Having intense emotional experiences are also important to Lilith here; she will take things/her feelings to extremes (to the limit) in order to have these intense and deep experiences. What type of experiences she’s driven to have here will be better understood by house placement and any aspects she makes. She will be driven towards the taboo and the intense, though some of the things she gets herself into may not always be the healthiest or safest situations (especially on the more extreme ends of this spectrum). There are also themes of power and control that she wants to transcend beyond, but this may prove difficult. This power and control could have to do with her needing to hold on to her own power tightly, or having power and control over others (especially sexually/in relationships). She may also have the tendency to attract others that operate the same way (which may or may not be a good thing). You will need to learn to let go of some of that need for control. Besides all of that, there is something sort of magical about this placement, with the person having the natural inclination towards “magic” (however you want to think of that). In this placement, it really is a toss up as to how she will use to her powers.

    Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius: BML in Sagittarius needs to be able to roam, expand her mind, and to explore in a wild and uninhibited way. She also needs to be allowed to BELIEVE in things in the same way (and to have something to believe in). The issue here is WHAT is chosen as a belief here and treated as dogma. This one has the ability to become quite rigid in their personal dogma once they have formulated it, and this could be anything of the philosophical/spiritual/metaphysical variety (and may actively expand on this belief even if it has been flat out disproven). Actually, it could even be the complete absence of any sort of belief in anything that could also be the case here, such as someone who doesn’t believe in the “rule of law” and just goes around breaking the law for shits and giggles (and I bring up the concept of “law” specifically since Sagittarius does naturally rule over this). As far as sex goes, this one wants to have a good time and expand on these carnal delights and probably doesn’t think that too much is “right” or “wrong” in this regard (this one tends not to be repressed sexually, unless their personal dogma goes against sex in some way….which….it usually doesn’t). Really, you can think of her as Dr. Goodtimes, but sometimes these “goodtimes” can be taken to excess, or be a detriment to her and/or other people. Freedom is a big deal with her here in Sagittarius, and the less personal freedom that she feels she has to explore, to expand, and to roam, the more likely the negative traits will come out to play. How she will express herself in Sagittarius will, of course, have a lot to do with everything else going on in the chart.

    Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn: BML in Capricorn really has a firm grasp on her own sense of authority and actually does need this to function well. Some might even use the term “cold hard bitch” to describe this placement, for this one doesn’t play games (she’s not really a cold hard bitch, but she does play one on TV). She’s actually more emotional than she would ever really let on, but somewhere along her life she learns that it’s for the best that you push your emotions to the side in the more public spheres of life. Maybe she was fucked around one too many times in this regard and/or taken advantage of. So she learned to adjust and really lean in to her own sense of personal authority. While this placement can actually go really far in life, this aspect can also become a sort of autocrat wanting absolute dominion over all of her subjects. How she chooses to use this personal authority will depend on the house that she falls in and the aspects that are made. As far as sex goes, what goes on here in this regard could be completely restricted, such as she feels like there are better and more important things to focus on than fucking for fun (or for any reason). It’s this very sexual repression that could swing her in direction of the more autocratic ways of wielding authority. If she isn’t sexually repressed, she’s probably more of a dominant type. Hand Lilith here a whip (or ties, chains, etc)…she’ll easily know what to do.

    Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius: BML in Aquarius has always seemed sort of awkward to me. While she isn’t repressed in regards to her sexuality, she doesn’t tend to do the “feeling” thing as well on a personal level, and can come off as more mechanical in nature. Sex for her may be to specifically try out something new or bizarre, for the sake of the new and the bizarre. Sex is also probably a fluid thing, and since Aquarius is more androgynous by nature, she probably is more likely than some other BML placements to not care as much about the sex/gender of the people she bones. She will probably have some pretty far out and electric hopes and wishes, forcing her to either stay more inside her head and watch them play out, or actually try and bring these to fruition in real life. If she chooses the later path, she can end up being a revolutionary of sorts in her own right. If she ends up down this path, she could end up with people following her lead (even if she didn’t ask to be put in this position). What matters is how she handles all of this, which would be shown by taking the entire chart into consideration. Does she use her electric mind to tap into the collective conscious in a positive way, or in a negative way (something this placement has the ability to do very well, with Aquarius being rather psychic itself and very in-tune with the collective consciousness)? Does the detachment from emotion and fluidity that she may feel sexually help or hinder her cause? Only the rest of the chart can tell.

    Black Moon Lilith in Pisces: BML is Pisces is kind of like the “dream weaver;” she has big dreams and really has the ability to get caught up in these dreams. As long as what she’s dreaming of is of the positive variety, this uninhibited ability to reach for the stars can serve her very well in allowing her to make her own dreams come true. The downside here tends to deal with the unrealistic nature of some of these dreams, and even the ability to con herself and/or con other people, sort of playing the role of “lord of illusions.” She can spin a very good tale for other people if she needs too, and for her to help herself make it through the day. Help making it through the day is another thing that speaks here, since Lilith in Pisces may find the world too hard and ugly to deal with on a day to day basis. This could lead her down a path towards trying to escape this ugliness with proclivities towards addictions (and this could be any sort of addiction, but specifically those of the substance variety). Sex could also end up being a sort of escape for her, but sex for the sake of escape will leave her feeling empty and even more self-sacrificing. She needs to turn all of her intuition (this placement is highly intuitive) towards actually helping others in the physical reality and not just spinning them stories that are nothing more than illusions. She really shines here when she allows herself do this. The different ways that this placement could manifest would, again, depend on house placement and aspects made.

  • The Moon Out of Bounds in an Astrology Chart or: “Where the hell do you think you’re going?”

    In the previous post about Out of Bounds planets, it was mentioned which planets go out of bounds, and which ones do not (so I won’t recap all of that here again). We’ll jump right in with the planet that gets out from under the Sun’s grasp the most often, which is of course the Moon. The time that this happens with the most frequency is every 18.6 years or so (when the North Node is at 0° Aries), and the Moon gives a giant middle finger to the Sun’s gravitational pull, and does what it wants, how it wants, when it wants. Now, what does it look like when the Moon goes out of bounds you ask? And how does this manifest in a person’s life? Let’s take a look at what can happen.
    **Keep in mind that the closer to the maximum declination of 28.5 degrees that the Moon finds itself, the more extreme the OOB Moon will be felt by the person and will come out to play in real life.**

    When the Moon goes out of bounds, the person will absolutely feel it even if the OOB Moon isn’t as easily “seen” outwardly (though it usually is to some degree). Being out of bounds frees the Moon from any restriction and being “fenced in” that it might feel or face (from the sign that it falls under, the house that it resides in, and the aspects it makes), as well as from any outward restriction that society tries to impose. It also can cause the person to feel that they don’t quite belong here or anywhere, that they don’t quite fit in to societal norms, and some may actually feel that they are not actually of this planet/this dimension. Point blank, most all people that I’ve known with the Moon OOB have a distinct feeling, and usually quite early on, of being different from other people. This can be a more “positive” type of difference (such as being some sort of visionary genuis and using this ability towards bettering the world somehow), or a more “negative” type of difference (such as someone who doesn’t give a fuck about any laws that are set up in society, and breaks them every chance they get). A lot of the time, the OOB Moon person will be a little of both options above. Either way, or any way, this distinct feeling of being “different” can cause the person to feel some very intense loneliness at times, while other times they may fully delight in this feeling of being different from the masses.
    *I put positive and negative in quotes above because depending on the way you personally feel about those examples in question will depend on if you think they’re positive or negative.

    Another common theme with the out of bounds Moon tends to be a sensitivity that runs deep to their very core (and very big emotions and feelings), though the outside world may not ever know or realize this about these people. They are deeply emotional (even in the less traditionally emotional Moon Signs of Virgo, Aquarius, and Capricorn), and they know this about themselves and all the vulnerability that can come with it. While vulnerable, some people with the OOB Moon will embrace this vulnerability easily, while others will try to stuff it away in a place that no one else can reach it. It does tend to be sensed in some way by other people and by the world, even if the person has tried their best to hide it away. This can cause the OOB Moon native to be left wide open for people to mercilessly walk all over and all across any personal boundaries they try to set up. This isn’t always meant in an intrusive way by the person walking all over the boundaries of those with the OOB Moon; the person in question may really just sense the OOB person’s vulnerability and want to be of help. Though, there are those people who don’t necessarily have the best interest of the OOB Moon person at heart while walking all over their boundaries. They may be trying to find some weakness to exploit, or have some other nefarious reason for their actions. Luckily, being massively intuitive is also a card that the OOB Moon person has in their back pocket and they are usually able to tell (or feel) the difference between such people. Not only intuitive, these people seem to have some kind of link to the subconscious/unconscious mind (whether they realize this or not), as well as being highly empathetic beings.

    Since boundaries were mentioned in the paragraph above, these people tend to be able to shatter boundaries themselves. Though this isn’t usually in an intrusive way of getting into the personal business of other people/walking all over personal boundaries, but more of a way that they don’t see universal boundaries (and norms) in the same way as other people. This can be seen in the OOB moon person shattering the boundaries of traditional society and thought; they can been found talking about things that don’t typically get discussed openly in public, to thinking about the “impossible” and making it possible, to being their different or “weird” selves in ‘out in the wild’, to completely shattering societal conventions in favor of living lawlessly (and this can be found in the friendly type lawless person all the way over to the sociopathic criminal). Regardless of the personality here, there is probably a different sort of code that these people live by…..which is how we end up with the visionary genius, the weirdo, the sensitive empath, and the sociopathic criminal all as possible outcomes here (among other possibilities). All of these people tend to view the world differently than other people, and thus their morals and ethics will be colored by how they view the world (and vice versa). To see what sort of code the OOB Moon person lives by, you would want to look at the sign the out of bounds Moon falls, the house in which is resides, and any aspects made to the Moon.

    I could see the out of bounds Moon as possibly manifesting as a sort of extreme depending on the sign the Moon falls in. For example, since there is something very Uranian/Aquarian about the OOB Moon anyway, I’d imagine that the person with an OOB Moon in Aquarius would probably become even more visionary in their thoughts and probably quite intuitive and spiritual (since Aquarius is a universal sign), and using this for the good. Someone who’s easily able to connect with the collective on a subconscious/unconscious level and in a very humanitarian way. I could also see the pendulum swinging in the opposite direction; someone who almost goes “mad” from all of their visionary thought, or someone who says “fuck this” to society and when doing this leaves the concept of “humanity” behind…either by way of walking away from society entirely and living out in the woods in a Unibomber-esque fashion, or just really not giving a fuck about society in general and the impact that they have on it.

  • Saturn in House Overlays (Houses 1 through 6) in Synastry or: “I have a lesson for you, bitch.”

    Ahhhh, synastry! It’s quite interesting to look at synastry charts between two people, seeing the energy that both people bring into the relationship and how both of their energies interact with one another. I have a real interest in the house overlay part of synastry, which is when you look at a specific planet in your chart (say, Saturn) and see what house it falls inside of in your partner’s chart. Here is an example of what I’m talking about:

    Person A (in blue) has their Saturn hitting the 8th House (almost into their 9th House) of Person B (in red). Person B’s Saturn is hitting Person A’s 1st House. Saturn in both charts is circled in Yellow.

    When looking at a particular planet in house overlays in synastry, the planet person will be affecting the house person with the energy of that particular planet, primarily in the area of life that the house in question deals with. In the case of this post, we’ll be looking at how Saturn in one person’s chart impacts the other person’s chart by way of the house it falls in. Saturn is a teacher (not always an easy teacher, but a teacher none-the-less), and usually the lessons that Saturn has to teach in Synastry have something to do with responsibility, restriction (not all restriction is bad all of the time), maturity, stabilization, and getting serious. Some people need the lessons that the Saturn person is in their lives to teach, and some don’t (it really depends on the natural inclination of the house person). **This is strictly JUST looking at the energy between Saturn and the house that it falls in in synastry, not taking into account any other aspects (such as other planets in your partner’s house), which, of course will color how you will want to interpret everything.**

    Your Saturn falling in your partner’s First House: You probably have a pretty stabilizing effect on the house person here (whether they want this stabilization is another question entirely). There may be a certain sort of restriction that the house person feels in regards to themselves when you are around. Maybe they feel they can’t be fully themselves in someway around you? Or maybe just by way of being in a relationship with you, the house person becomes more serious, more traditional, and more mature. Regardless of other aspects in the synastry chart to see if the house person considers these positive or negative attributes to acquire, the lesson Saturn teaches here is all about stabilizing and maturing the “self” of the house person.

    Your Saturn falling in your partner’s Second House: You are probably in your partner’s life for many reasons, but a big one will be teaching them lessons about how to really work for what they value, and how to really work for what makes them feel secure. Also, you as the Saturn person could end up being what makes the house person secure, since Saturn has a tendency of acting as an anchor in the house it falls (there may be real security for the house person that you will “stick” around, thus making them secure). You may have a rather stabilizing effect on their financial situation, helping them to obtain what they want financially. Or you may help them to become more responsible in these areas of life and less wanton and devil-may-care.

    Your Saturn falling in your partner’s Third House: I’ve always found this to be a somewhat difficult placement in house overlays, and that’s because Saturn here can cause some restriction in communication for the house person. This restriction can actually be a type of maturity in communication that the Saturn person is teaching in lesson form to the house person (maybe the house person needs to learn this lesson, restriction isn’t always a bad thing). The Saturn person can also cause the house person to think more seriously and more practically, causing a complete shift in their thought process. Or, if the house person is already more serious and realistically minded, it can cause them to go off the deep end with their seriousness and realism (which could cause the house person to become more depressively inclined).

    Your Saturn falling in your partner’s Fourth House: The lesson that Saturn wants to teach here has to with anchoring one down, and sometimes this is welcome (and sometimes it isn’t). Saturn falling in your partner’s 4th house can either be a really good thing, or a bad thing. You can deeply effect the house person, causing them to feel stable and secure down to their very private core (since the 4th house is the most private part of the natal chart, along with the IC). If you happen to live with the house person, you may be a real stablizing presence in the person’s home life. Depending on other factors in your charts, Saturn falling in your partner’s 4th house could cause the house person to feel restricted at home, or cause them to feel more responsibility towards the home and private life than maybe they would like.

    Your Saturn falling in your partner’s Fifth House: Your Saturn falling in your partner’s 5th house can cause you restrict or mature (depending on the house person and the way you look at it) the house person in areas revolving around self-expression, creativity, and joy. You may help them to become more practical in these areas of their life (such as helping them to be more practical in how they express themselves), or your energy may stifle them (such as stifling their creativity). If the the 5th house person is naturally inclined to gamble or take risks, you may cause them not to do this so much or so often. Children and the idea of having them are usually serious business, and if this is a romantic relationship there could be blockage or delay in this area of life, usually by way of Saturn’s energy on the house person.

    Your Saturn falling in your partner’s Sixth House: Generally, Saturn is pretty comfortable in the 6th in House Overlays. Saturn here usually has a lesson to teach the house person in the areas of work, daily life and personal health. Saturn’s energy here wants to teach the house person to get serious about these areas of life, and to be practical and responsible. And depending on the house person, this could be a very welcome energy into their life. Saturn may help the house person to become serious about taking care of their physical body & health, to persevere while working (and to just work hard in general), and to be responsible in daily life. The one downside that I see here is the possibility of causing the house person to feel criticized in some way, especially if Saturn’s energy in this house isn’t welcome (or necessarily needed).

  • North & South Nodes along the Virgo/Pisces Axis

    **In this post in the series, we will take the House that the North Node falls in out of the equation and just focus on what it means to have your North Node in a specific sign (and what it means to have the South Node in the polarity sign). Usually with things having to do with the Nodal Axis (and growing into our North Node), a catalyst occurs in our lives that edges us out of the comfort of the South Node and into the uncharted territory of the North. This catalyst could be something major and life changing (such as a death, marriage, or divorce), or even something much more minor. Something will kind of shake us internally, saying “Wake up, fucker. You’re supposed to move beyond this,” whatever the “this” in the situation is. Once this waking up occurs, you will begin to move towards the North Node. Though, in all my years of study, this period of waking up usually doesn’t occur until the person’s first Saturn Return, or after it.**

    North Node in Virgo/South Node in Pisces: If you North Node falls in Virgo, that makes your North Node mission in this lifetime all about growing into routine, work, and service (though not necessarily completely selfless service). There is also supposed to be an emphasis on health, and of really taking care of your physical body and your mind. Learning to be practical, useful, and the idea of “perfection” will all probably come to the forefront. This life is all about living in the physical realm and having your feet planted firmly on the ground in reality. In past lives (or just a past life) with your South Node in Pisces, you were probably less interested in living your lives within the confines of the physical world/physical reality and more in tune and interested in the spiritual and intangible. There may have been a real lack of practicality (or even interest) when it came to everyday affairs and routines, instead focusing on things that were “greater than” and more universal. The service that you performed in the past was probably of the more selfless variety, and you may have either felt that you never got anything in return for this service or you were fine with performing this selfless service because it was for the universal good. Exploring the deepest parts of your own psyche (regardless of what this did to you) was more important than actually taking care of your body and mind in a rational and practical way. You may find that you are more drawn to these South Node themes in this lifetime, for they are usually where we are most comfortable naturally. However, we’re supposed to move away from the South Node (while taking the best parts with us) and evolve into the North Node. To me this placement translates as someone who is able to take the knowledge they feel and know about the universal, about the collective unconscious, and about what is “greater than” and use this to be of service and to help people that really need it in this incarnation. This service won’t be the selfless kind, for you will finally feel that you are getting something in return for your efforts (which will probably be a nice change of pace). You finally get to live your life in a practical way rooted in reality and routine (and this will help to quiet any internal chaos that you may feel from always wanting to dive so deep into your own unconscious & subconscious mind while neglecting your body and mind needs in the physical). Actually, I could see the catalyst here as having something to do with that chaos; maybe the way you are living your life day to day is too unrealistic and impractical, thus forcing you change something. Or maybe there is some kind of health scare from not taking care of your body and mind properly. In either of these hypothetical cases, you are forced to come into reality to deal with something, and thus the evolution into the North Node will begin.

    North Node in Pisces/South Node in Virgo: Having your North Node in Pisces makes your North Node mission in this lifetime all about moving out of the world of mundane routine, of the physical, and of day to day reality. There will probably be more emphasis on really understanding and exploring the deepest parts of your psyche on an intangible and unconscious/subconscious level (as well as that of the collective unconscious). The idea of real selfless service was probably important for your soul to understand in this lifetime; the kind of service that you give because you know that it’s for the universal good to give it. Really though, the main part of this mission I feel has to do with becoming connected to the divine, the “greater than,” whatever that looks like and feels like to you, as well as embracing your very intuitive and healing nature. This positioning of the North Node makes spirituality of some sort that resonates with you of the utmost importance (your soul really wanted to understand all of this in this incarnation). With your South Node in Virgo you probably lived past lives (or a past life) strictly in the physical reality, never really caring or having time for exploring the more spiritual and intangible side of things. You cared much more about being practical, useful and efficient. Routines may have been everything to you and you may have really needed to follow one strictly to keep your world from “falling apart.” The same could be said about your physical health; if something wasn’t completely right or perfect with you physically (even something minor), your world was rocked. You definitely enjoyed serving others in previous lives, but it wasn’t just for the act of being of service (you received something in return for the work you put in, be that money or an ego boost or whatever). Even though you may be more comfortable in this lifetime living through these South Node themes (while taking the best parts with you), you are supposed to evolve into the North Node. I see this as manifesting as someone who is able to take all the helpfulness and efficiency that was learned from the Virgo South Node and really apply this into service for the collective good. There could also be a real gift with discernment in regards to seeking out the the notion of the “greater than,” or the divine; because of this discernment, you may be more able than most to really understand what feels true and right for you. It could also have to do with taking all your South Node knowledge in regards to the health of the physical and mental body, and funnel that towards healing other people in a more spiritual and intuitive way. I could definitely see the catalyst here having something to do with a health issue of some kind that doesn’t seem to respond to conventional medicine (nothing fatal, just something that bothers you and never seems to go away), so you seek out alternatitive forms of healing from others or even yourself. Or maybe the catalyst could be something that drastically changes how you view reality (and you possibly needing something more in your life than just reality), so you branch out into the intangible and the spiritual. Either of these situations could easily cause the evolution of the Pisces North Node to begin.

    To flesh out the nodal axis story further (to get the whole picture), you will need to also consider where the planetary ruler of the North and South Nodes fall in the chart by sign, house, and aspects made. In the case of Virgo and Pisces you would be looking at Mercury and Jupiter & Neptune.

  • North & South Nodes along the Cancer/Capricorn Axis

With your South Node falling Capricorn, in a previous life/lives, you were probably in control of your emotions and vulnerability at all times; you didn’t freely express this side of yourself, even at times when you probably should have. There was also probably quite an emphasis on your career and ambitions (Oh! You were probably very ambitious!), as well as on your well crafted public persona. You probably really got off on being at the very top of the social echelon. There is also an element of authority here with Capricorn, and in previous lives you very well could’ve held some kind of authority by way of everything else mentioned (and probably got off on this, too). Even though some (or all) of these themes and areas of life may feel the most comfortable to you in this lifetime, you are supposed to move into your Cancer North Node. In this lifetime, you are supposed to dive headfirst into the more private spheres of life, to really understand yourself and your emotions and sensitivies, and allow them to freely show. This is all about possibly putting career ambitions behind those needs of caring for your family (either the one you are born into or the one you create for yourself). This can either mean just caring and nurturing your family in day to day life, but can also mean taking care of and nurturing sick or ailing family members. In previous lives you also took care of yourself, for yourself. In this lifetime, you’re supposed to move into not only being a supportive force for those you truly love and care about, but to also allow them to support you as well. I could imagine the catalyst towards moving into your Cancer North Node being something along the lines of either having your own child or having to care for a loved one for a period of time. Before this would happen, you would probably be more focused on those career ambitions and the more public areas of life. Once life kind of takes you a different way (possibly even by force or an unexpected situation), you would then begin to grow into the Cancer North Node.

    North Node in Capricorn/South Node in Cancer: If your North Node ends up falling in Capricorn, this is the lifetime where you are supposed to be *very* ambitious in regards to your career aspirations. This is a lifetime that is meant to be lived in the public spheres of life, climbing that social ladder for the highest amount of social status obtainable, working your public presence to your advantage, as well as really harnessing your own personal authority that is wanting to come out (and being comfortable with it). You probably really wanted to get a firm grip on your emotions in this lifetime, and become more even-keeled in this respect (not letting them dominate and rule you). There is probably also a real soul desire to completely be able to take care of yourself (being completely self-sufficient), and not actually needing anyone else in that arena to do that for you. With Cancer as your South Node, in past life (or lives) you may have spent a great deal of time being the support and nurturing force for other people (especially in the domain of the home). You may not have cared very much for career and the ambitions that come with it, for climbing the social ladder, for if you had a “public persona” or not. Your life was very focused on the more private side of life. There may have also been issues with your own emotions, sensitivity, and vulnerability, and they may have manifested in a way that you couldn’t easily reel them in (or they were mis-used possibly somehow). And authority…..there probably wasn’t a whole lot of that which you actively crafted and used. There could have also been issues with you not being self-sufficient in previous lives, either by choice (such as your spouse worked so you didn’t), or because there was some actual physical/mental issue that kept you unable to fully fly on your own, meaning you needed constant support from other people. You may be naturally more drawn towards the South Node (things are usually more comfortable there), and may feel like the North Node soul mission doesn’t speak to you at all. A catalyst usually must occur first before it does “speak” to you, and I could see a catalyst here as being someone who has spent a great deal of their time in this current incarnation caring for other people (such as being a stay at home mom/dad). Something happens that forces you into getting a job/getting into a career, and this awakens the Capricorn North Node and would allow you to grow into it.

    To flesh out the nodal axis story further (to get the whole picture), you will need to also consider where the planetary ruler of the North and South Nodes fall in the chart by sign, house, and aspects made. In the case of Cancer and Capricorn you would be looking at the Moon and Saturn.

    **In this post in the series, we will take the House that the North Node falls in out of the equation and just focus on what it means to have your North Node in a specific sign (and what it means to have the South Node in the opposite sign). Usually with things having to do with the Nodal Axis (and growing into our North Node), a catalyst occurs in our lives that edges us out of the comfort of the South Node and into the uncharted territory of the North. This catalyst could be something major and life changing (such as a death, marriage, or divorce), or even something much more minor. Something will kind of shake us internally, saying “Wake up, fucker. You’re supposed to move beyond this,” whatever the “this” in the situation is. Once this waking up occurs, you will begin to move towards the North Node. Though, in all my years of study, this period of waking up usually doesn’t occur until the person’s first Saturn Return, or after it.**

    North Node in Gemini/South Node in Sagittarius: If your North Node falls in Gemini, your North Node mission in this lifetime is all about the use of effective communication & language (both written and verbal). Also, you’re probably supposed to move into the realm of logic, reason, facts, details, curiousity, and using the more concrete side of you mind. With Sagittarius as your South Node, you probably had a past life (or past lives) where you operated primarily out of the abstract side of your mind. You may have also held very strong beliefs about things, almost zealous about them, (this could be any type of belief, but spiritual/religious beliefs seem to fit nicely here) but these beliefs and belief systems actually didn’t have any hard evidence to back them up. Sagittarius South Node people may also have an issue with pushy teaching or preaching with the way that they “teach” in this lifetime (in past lives it probably was more of the former than actually teaching). You may be more comfortable in with the philosophical (for the sake of being philosophical) and with the abstract, but in this lifetime, but you are supposed to move into the Gemini North Node (while taking the highest forms of the South Node qualities with you on your soul’s journey). Moving out of dogmatic beliefs and into beliefs that make sense in the physical world, that check out, and that you use logic and reason to get to your conclusions. As well as being able to communicate them effectively. Moving away from possibly ramming a belief or philosophy down someone’s throat to actually teaching them things that can be applied critically. Being curious about so many things in one’s daily life. Journeys in general here (actual physical journey’s and journey’s of the mind) are much shorter, and on a somewhat “smaller” scale. What your soul’s mission is based on by sign may feel completely antithetical to how you operate, but usually a catalyst will occur (maybe something along the lines of someone challenging a very strong belief or philosophy of yours) that will force you into growing into your North Node. Take the (what can be) wonderful philosophical quality of this South Node, and move it into North Node territory, while operating out of logic and reason.

    North Node in Sagittarius/South Node in Gemini: For you, Sagittarius North Node person, your North Node mission is all about expanding your horizons (both long journey’s of the mind and in the physical), the belief that you have in things, philosophical ideas & the abstract mind, truth, and higher education (of some sort). In a past life (or past lives) with Gemini as your South Node, you were probably more focused on absolute logic and reason, effective communication (both written and verbal), being curious about everything (but not necessarily being a “master” at any one thing), and using the concrete mind. This placement of the South Node in Gemini is definitely a mental one, but on a smaller scale than what your North Node hopes to achieve in this lifetime. While you may be more comfortable dealing with and operating out of your South Node, you’re supposed to evolve into the Sagittarius North Node qualities (while taking the highest qualities of your South Node with you on your mission). Take all the curiousity that you have about a great many things, and apply them to the abstract, to things that you feel that you could believe in, and in seeking for truth (whatever that is for you personally). Take long journeys here and there, move out of your comfort zone and really expand yourself (and your mind) in way that you weren’t able to do in past lives. There may be some kind of hang up with higher education (maybe you didn’t finish university, or maybe you never felt like you were qualified to go), but actually university or some other type of higher education is probably the catalyst that can propel you into moving into your Sagittarius North Node. Another thing that could prove to be the catalyst here is moving away from where you lived most of your life (which you may resist at first), but will ultimate push you into evolving into your North Node mission filled to the brim with expansion.

    To flesh out the nodal axis story further (to get the whole picture), you will need to also consider where the planetary ruler of the North and South Nodes fall in the chart by sign, house, and aspects made. In the case of Gemini & Sagittarius, you would be looking at Mercury and Jupiter.

  • Stuff about Draconic Charts in Astrology (Part 3)

    Recently, talk of draconic charts in astrology seems to have exploded around the different forums that I frequent (which is super-exciting, I love talking about this stuff!), which gave me the idea to make another entry highlighting these charts and what I believe are the important things to focus on while deciphering them. This is kind of a hodgepodge of ideas dealing with these charts, so bear with me if my ideas seem to kind of jump from thing to thing.

    Pluto’s importance here in these charts should never be forgotten. Pluto (and it’s polarity point opposite it) has a very special place within evolutionary astrology, almost operating like the North Node/South Node Axis, showing where we come from on a soul level and what we want to evolve into. The position of one’s natal Pluto points to the way we are based on the experiences from our previous incarnations (or where/how we come into this lifetime most “familiar”), while the natal Pluto Polarity point points to what our soul wants to evolve into in this lifetime. By reading these two placements in a draconic chart, I almost see this as Pluto representing the way that we just naturally (on a soul level) believe things, desire things, and perceive things, but the draconic Pluto Polarity Point shows the highest possible evolution of our soul (all that our soul could be). It’s once that we’ve actually obtained this soul goal of “becoming” our Pluto Polarity Point that we probably stop reincarnating into this world and then go on to somewhere else. Once we’ve reached the highest elevation of this point in the draconic chart, our soul’s mission and evolution over all lifetimes is complete (or that’s one of my theories, anyway). With Pluto being so important, when reading a draconic chart by itself make sure to take notice of where Pluto (and its polarity point) are in the chart. This should give you some kind of idea where you have been on a soul level across all lifetimes (by sign, house, and aspects), and where (probably) the highest elevation of your soul’s nature lies (by the Pluto Polarity Point and its sign, house, and aspects). Remember, when reading the natal and draconic charts, the “lenses” you use are different. The natal chart is just about this present incarnation, so Pluto and its polarity point in this chart points to the evolutionary journey and process for this life. Pluto and its Polarity Point in the draconic chart point to the evolutionary process and journey across all lifetimes.

    The Moon is, I believe, another very important planet to take note of in the draconic chart, since the nodes of the Moon are based off the Moon in the natal chart (and the draconic chart is created by making the north node 0-degrees Aries). The draconic Moon shows how you function emotionally and process your feelings (and the type of feelings that you have) across all time and space. By house, the draconic Moon shows the areas that your soul at its deepest levels may have the most emotional investment in, or to what and where you are most emotionally tied. By sign, the draconic Moon can show the way that your soul expresses the Moon’s energy naturally. These are probably very much within the subconscious parts of your mind in this lifetime, maybe not even fully able to be rationalized, and very innate. When you have feeling about something, and maybe you don’t even know why you feel a certain way about it…..I would bet that’s the draconic Moon at work.

    Sometimes I feel like our souls want an easier time or more difficult time handling things like our emotions (or really anything) in certain lifetimes. I also fully believe that before we are incarnated in each life our soul decides, or at least has a say, in what we want our natal charts to look/be like. With that said, if our soul wanted to grow in how we process and handle our feelings in this incarnation, as a way of learning a life lesson to then carry over to the next life, it may throw some difficult aspects between the Moon and other planets/celestial bodies in the natal chart. However, the real catalysts for change on a soul level seem to be the more difficult aspects between a planet/celestial body in the natal chart and a planet/celestial body in the draconic chart. An example of this would be difficult aspects between, say, the natal Sun and the draconic Moon. There is some deep soul lesson to be learned (possibly even karmic) about your sense of selfhood in this lifetime and how you really feel, deep down in your soul. This sense of selfhood could even translate to a sense of “soulhood” when we get down to it; something about the soul’s sense of self and the soul’s emotions that could only really be learned through this lifetime by having your natal Sun in a certain place, making a more difficult aspect to your draconic Moon. When reading the draconic chart on its own or in tandem with the natal chart, the planets and aspects that I personally take special care in analyzing are as follows:
    *The Sun
    *The Moon
    *Pluto
    *The Nodes of the Moon
    ——-I realize that in draconic charts the North Node is always set to 0-degrees Aries, but pay attention here to any planets/celestial bodies that aspect the Nodes in both types of charts. Also pay attention to any aspects that your natal North & South Nodes make to the draconic North & South Nodes.
    * All of the major angles by house, sign, and aspects made (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven & Imum Coeli/IC). Take careful note of the IC, though. Being the most private part of your natal chart, and where your “roots” are, I feel like this has a special place in draconic astrology as well (since the draconic chart appear to be like the roots of the soul).
    *I take special note of conjunctions and oppositions, because these tend to be karmic (as are square aspects sometimes, depending on the planets/celestial bodies in aspect).
    *The Vertex & Antivertex axis is also something that has always struck me as important when looking at these charts together. Connections made between the natal Vertex and draconic planets/celestial bodies (and vice versa) could indicate areas of your life (and soul) that just feel really, really fated (and surprising) but you don’t really understand why. Connections made between the natal Antivertex and draconic planets/celestial bodies (and vice versa) will still feel really, really fated, but there will probably be a sense of expecting/knowing/more understanding that comes from this fated feeling (something that feels fated, but you already knew would manifest).
